Appearance: Dark grey powder
 
Application: The additive of cemented carbide alloy, cermet, coating material, and the material of niobium bar, powder.
 
 
Characteristic: Melting point: 3500℃, density: 7.6g/cm (25℃).Microhardness >23.5 Gpa(>2400 kg/mm2), harder than corundum. Insoluble in hot and cold hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, soluble in hot hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid mixed solution. It is stable at 1000~1100℃, and quickly oxidized to niobium pentaoxide above 1100℃.Niobium carbide is fusible in titanium carbide, zirconium carbide, tungsten carbide, and so on compounds, and generate a mixture of quasi-isocrystalline solid solution. Therefore, it can be used to make cermet, heat resistant alloy and cemented carbide alloy. It can be used as an additive of cemented carbide, which significantly improves the thermal hardness and thermal resistance of impact, thermal pressure resistance and oxidation resistance. The cutting tools made of TaC also have good thermal hardness, thermal impact resistance and thermal oxidation resistance. At the same time, the composite materials have been widely used in convertor reactor, machining, metallurgy, aerospace and other fields.
